I am 14 and want to become a private pilot by the time I'm 17. I know I can start training next year. About how much does it cost to get a license? Also, does anyone know any good places to get scholarships?

Aviation Scholarships

This is by no means a complete listing of all the scholarships that are available in the aviation industry. You will likely find more information available from your school's financial aid office, as well as online if you search the Internet for aviation scholarships. The University Aviation Association has an extensive online listing of hundreds of scholarships awarded annually.

The cost really depends on your area and the cost of the aircraft "WET" . After you find out that information then you have to research the cost of the instructor by the hour. Don't know where you are from but I know that Southern Illinois University has lots of aviation courses so you should try that way for scholarships. Spartan in Tulsa Oklahoma is also a good school too.

I can't think of a "scholarship" per se, at least in the US and A. Scholarships are designed to give you money to go to school, get trained, because afterwards you will have (a: better chances to get a job, and not be on welfare, b: pay more taxes because you'll make more money). A PPL won't get you either of these.
You're really going to have to get a job.
To fly at a discount, or for free:
Civil Air Patrol-that's where I got most of my private hours.
Join the USAF, you can fly at the aero-clubs for a greatly discounted rate. Also, you can use your education benefits for at least ground-school, and part of your flying time.
Look for a job at your local muni-airport. See if you can trade your wages for instructor-time. Worst case, you can ask if there's someone who needs the instructor time.
Ask around at school. Maybe one of your bro's knows someone, who knows someone etc.
Good Luck. If you want to do it, you will.

Unless you are working on an aviation degree (not a pilot's license), you will not receive financial aid or grants to help cover the cost of the license.
