For EOD officers, the list says they go to OCS then straight to first DIVO before technical training. Is this correct? How long is this first DIVO tour, what exactly is DIVO, and what is to be expected on the DIVO tour / assignment?

DIVO = Division Officer.

A Division Officer is the lowest level of the chain of command for an officer. In the Army it would be like a Platoon Leader. The senior NCO in the Division (Normally a Chief Petty Officer or Senior Chief Petty Officer) would be expected to train the Division Officer and keep him out of trouble.

Once in a while a brand-new, bouncing baby Division Officer reports right out of OCS or the Naval Academy convinced he knows everything there is to know. In that case the Chief will delight in sitting back and watching the guy get himself in all kinds of trouble.

DIVO is Division Officer. Typically, it's the first OJT and experience a JO gets after schooling. a DIVO will have anywhere from a few enlisted men to several dozen working under him, as well as at least One Chief and an LPO. LISTEN to these individuals, they are the ones who will be training you.

for IWO, a First Tour DIVO can expect 3 years at one command. EOD may be similar.

there may be subsequent DIVO tours, each one with a little more responsibilty and importance as the one previous. then you think about going to either NPS or DEPT Head School, before becoming a department Head( where the DIVOS report to you)

DIVO is a division officer, it's usually about 18 months. You are expected to learn from this position. Lets day you're going to be the DIVO for Deck ( 1st, 2nd, RAS, Boats ect) You will learn the basics and probably transfer between the different divisions in order to learn the different aspects of Deck and what is expected of each division,and what the main priorities are. You are expected to learn the proper way to and safe way to do things with in the department.

a DIVO tour is the same as it would be for anyone else , but i dont think DIVO has been on tour for awhile but their version of "i can't get no satisfaction" is still pretty cool but that video for that "peek-aboo" song still gives me night terrors after all these years.unless......you're not talking about ILdivo....are you?
