Start with Cesar's Way, by Cesar Millan, for a basic understanding of what your dog needs mentally and physically to be happy and healthy as a member of your pack, then look for more detailed books. No book is going to be an adequate substitute for an experienced trainer, though, esp with the stronger more dominant breeds. Good Luck!!

Cesar Mulan has released a couple of training books. In my opinion,he is the best of the best with respect to dog training. He says, he rehibilitates the dog, and trains the owner. Very true!! Any book store will know by his name where to direct you.
