Skeeter I know what you're saying. My little girl, her name is Phoebe, AKA, Pheebes, Baby Grey, Free Bee, she is the joy of our home. I can't get over how smart she is and how lucky I am. I've always had birds, from canaries to homing pigeons and I enjoyed them all, but nothing compares to owning a Grey. They really communicate with you, and not always with words, but they get their message across. Mine thinks she's an Opera singer, but boy does she have a horrible voice. Grey's really are the best, Bar None!!!

Well all parrots have ups and downs. The African Grey Parrot is a medium sized parrot that is said to have the largest dictionary and the best ability to communicate and comprehend humans. We have one at got him when he was weeks old. He can be violent at times (i think he is moody) and it seems that he likes to talk more to himself than to anyone else. Overall this bird is entertaining.

Our bird also likes to take baths and he walks around the house. He likes to be wherever anyone else is. The dogs will stay away from him because he snaps at the dogs.

All parrots are great. With training, proper nutrition, exercise, it's amazing to me how intelligent these creatures are. I had no idea. What is your African Grey's name? I have a Quaker named Thelonius Monk.

I'm not sure what your question is here!!! Are Indian girls better than the white one's??? Parrots can be nearly human in their behavior, and over time will adopt their human companions lifestyle, eating, drinking, sleeping habits, and also any bad ones, they observe, and learn. Mine have learned to pass gas rather loudly, so I no longer do anything in private in front of them, that THEY WILL DO, in public!!! Every parrot has their own personality, and behavior quirks, that is particular to them, just like it is in us Humans!!! Contrary to any other species I know, they will pattern their lives to ours, and fit right in anywhere!!! The moral is---As in humans, all parrots are created equal, and like a child, it is up to their human caretakers to mold their behavior into a civilized society---Birdman

I think they are the smarty pants of the bird world that's for sure!
They are impressive little friends aren't they? I've always said that birds are smarter than humans and along comes Alex and proves it!
Personally I'm a T totaling Cockatoo fan. 'rellas, 'lloucians, lessors, citrons, and if I could afford it ($17,000.00!!) a female black palm! I adore their lovieness and their beauty, as well as their ability to entertain!
We all have our favorites though.

I dunno....LOL

I'd take bullets for my macaws any day of the week...LOL

My personal, humble opinion is that it isn't the species, it's the personality of our birds that capture us and hold our hearts until the end of time. I'd just as soon give up my right arm as lose my macaws!

My nicknames for my guys?

Rio actually calls himself "Ri-Ri" in this high pitched girly voice. He'll go "Hi Ri-Ri" all sweet and sultry like. It's SO cute. Then we call him "Rio the Great" and "Feathered Hitler" when he's being domineering.

Then, Katie, our Greenwing fancies herself a superstar. She'll say "Hey Kate" and then make the sound of clapping and cheering after she says it. LOL She's 20 weeks old and we call her "Katie-Katie-Mommy's-Baby" LOL We're dorks. I know, I know.

My African Grey, Albert, is absolutely awesome. He is really smart, and participates in the family's daily life.

As far as intelligence goes, I agree with you. But as far as beauty, I personally think the Amazon varieties are much prettier.
