No, they don't.
I don't like Conair irons...I don't remember why.
I love Gold n Hot. They have more graduated settings and they are ergonomic (easier on the hands during use).

Honestly, in 12 years of doing hair I have used cheap tools and I have used expensive tools and seen no trend on which is better. I have had expensive tools break down or not work very well, and then on the other hand I have used a cheap blow dryer for five years. I think the trick, whichever you buy, is just to make sure that you take good care of it, meaning don’t drop it on the floor, don’t wind the cord tightly around it, and don’t leave it on all the time. Ceramic curling irons are really nice. Many people make them and they seem to work much better for me than metal ones. I have read they are better for your hair than metal.
One big difference between professional styling tools and consumer tools is that professional styling tools tend to have higher heat settings than regular ones. This isn’t a good thing when it comes to using something everyday. Stylists will use a very hot, professional iron on you once a month. Using one everyday can burn your hair, so be careful if you choose a professional curling iron. Cheap curling irons (blowdryers too) will also start to get very hot over time when its time to toss them out. While you would think that having an ultra hot iron would be better, in the end it just means that the heating element in the iron is faulty and needs to be replaced.

You could curl your hair with a flat iron if you have one. That's what I use. About two years ago, I seen a advisement on TV about a Conair curling iron and flat iron. I bought it at Dillards and couldn't wait to get home to try it. It didn't curl at all and I bought it back. So, I bought a Chi flat iron that could curl, flip, and create waves and I love it. You should have to use a curling activator.
