I have a 96 Chevy pick up. Most parts are the same for the two. It is relatively simple to replace the bulbs. The trim around the dash just pops off, just make sure to unplug any plugs (headlight switch) before removing it. From there simply remove the screws holding the dash in place. The dash just sits in place, it is a computer so be careful. Once you have it out, on the back side you will see the small retainers that hold the bulbs. Gently twist them to get them out, replace the bulbs and reinstall. It really is a simple task. I recently replaced my clear bulbs with blue ones and it only took about 15 minutes. Just watch what you are doing and don't over tighten the screws when reinstalling and you should be fine.

Sometimes you can access the blown bulb by reaching up under the dash and removing bulb holder but in most cases the dashboard must be unscrewed and even the assly has to be removed from the dash in some cases,(not for the faint hearted)
i suggest you get your workshop to do it to be safe.
