I live a dorm room, suite with 3 other guys. They use the kitchen, I harldy ever, if I do, I use the microwave and thats it. But they leave it a mess. Dishes in the sink, pots on the stove. I mean my god its filthy, in my opinion. Maybe is has something to do with the way my mom raised me or something. But A kitchen should be clean.

Since I rarely use it, I'm relunct to clean it. I mean why should I when I don't make a mess. But its starting to get on my nerves. I just do like the looks of it. And I do have to live in this suite, for around another 3 months.

So Should I clean it?

NO. Do not give in...if you do...you will be cleaning it always....and because they know that you will clean their filth they will actually get worse!

I don't care if there is mold on those dishes...DO NOT clean that kitchen;)

I think you need to talk to your roommates about it. But I doubt it will do any good.

I like the idea of putting the dirty dishes and pans in plastic bags! Put the dishes in one, and pans in another, and set them in a corner of the kitchen. Then clean the counter tops and sink. Every time you see a dirty dish or pan, put it in the bag. Sooner or later, someone will have to do the dishes!

Be sure to wash any dishes you dirty. You may have to wash the counter tops, every day, but that isn't hard and doesn't take any time at all. At least the kitchen will be clean and you should feel better about it.

Next time, talk about rules before you move in with anyone. Or better yet, get a place of your own. Why should you have to live with slobs!

Congratulations to your mom for raising a considerate son!

I wouldn't listen to the girl that said to hire a maid service and bill them. Chances are they will never pay because it's obvious if they aren't even responsible enough to clean a kitchen they won't be responsible enough to pay back a debt. I would say since you only have another 3 months to go ahead and simply clean it yourself. It is a lesson learned. It is harder to get a job and go to school but my friends do it; some even work 2 jobs so they don't have to live in the dorm and they can have their own place and not have to deal with this sort of situation with roommates. Is it worth it to you? Think about the situation your in now and weigh it out.

Sure sounds like someone needs to. Apparently, they aren't going to and the mess doesn't bother them.

If you clean it, they'll probably expect you to keep on cleaning it. Then, more than likely you'll be resentful. If you are resentful, it's just a matter of time until there's an argument or fight.

I suggest each of you take turns cleaning it, and keep a cleaning schedule on the refrigerator. And you should take your turn, even though you don't cause most of the messes. That could help promote some unity between the 3 of you.

clean the mess, but from now on pay attention to what your roomates dirty. When the time comes to clean again put all the dishes each one dirtied in there rooms, and then give the room a good wipe down. and when they freak, just tell them to keep there mess in there own rooms and not where you have to work arownd them, and then be realy careful not to leave any messes yourself.Or just throw every thing out then you dont have any dishes to clean up after and keep your own set in your room so they cant make a mess with them.

It's too bad the other guys weren't raised as you were. The kitchen should indeed be the cleanest room in a person's home, for all the obvious reasons. If this dirty/messy kitchen is getting on your nerves, then I'd say sure, go ahead & clean it. Maybe the other guys will catch on in time.

Its only is a chore popular. possibly get into it slightly greater desirable than slightly. Do a deep cleansing and then its greater straightforward to maintain.

yes. I use to be in a similiar situation several years ago. It was seven of us. I was the youngest at 22. Our home was an 8 spacious bedroom home with two fireplaces in two of the rooms. Some of us became tired of cleaning up or just having a mess when guests would come by so we developed a system where people would get fined for not picking up after themselves. The money, at first would be owed to the person that cleaned up the mess, paid by the one/s who left it. If one person found something as little as a pan in the sink or a pair of socks in the gameroom, it was a 5 dollar fine per room. The suspects would be notified via cellphone thay had just been fined if they were not in the house at the time it was discovered. It was cool sometimes to watch some of us storm back into the house to wash the coffee pot or toss a bag of popcorn. It was fun.It was a great system. Since implementing that system, we asked potential roommates if they would have any problems with our plan. We made it a requirement to abide by the plan if one wanted to live in the "real world" house. It was a great place. We had huge bean bags, air hockey tables, large fish tank with pirahnas! The system changed through time. Later we became smart so we used the fynds to purchase common house hold items, like detergent, toiletries, kitchen condoments, etc. We purchased that stuff in bulk so it would save us money individually. Later when we just realized we had become clean people we began to donate the monies to charity. By that time, the biggest mess you'd "fine" was a dish or a half empty cup of oj. So on its worst days, it was still clean enough to have guests over. We went from having messes such as the one you describe to little minor things out of place. The fines were so slow that one point the guys suggested I be fined for my reptiles getting out of their tanks because that was happened more often.Try it. Suggest it to the guys. I guarantee it will make life interesting for your abode. Once they all agree to it they have to deal with it. We only asked one guy to move out when his fines tallied up to about 60.00 bucks. He was getting fined every other day,he wasn't paying so we decided this guy wasn't going to fix up. He was just mocking us and our home. During his 30 days notice he came up with the money, but we refused it as a group. He moved out.

Buy your own microwave and put it in your room so you don't have to see their mess anymore. It's not a great solution but you really don't want to prepare your food in a dirty kitchen. Don't clean for them, it's not fair. I personally agree with everyone who said hire a maid, but I'm worried that you will stuck with the bill.

Tell them how you feel about it. If they don't clean it. Put everything in a big trash bag. Keep doing that and sooner or later they'll run out of dishes and be forced to clean. The slobs!

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret!
Try this cleaning cloth. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I even waxed my car with it! I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out.
