There was a time when a military man or woman could serve their country - return home to a 100 percent benefit package. Then the Jimmy Carter years and the Clinton Years. College was once 100 percent free and you were paid to go to college. Now it seems they have to go 50 / 50 with the Federal Government. Medical benefits were cut more then half in my last year it was CHAMPUS. I served 12. Now when you go to the VA a vet has to file a zillion papers and you have the right to not fill them out but now the VA has the right to refuse to treat a vet.

Actually, I think my dad would tell you it was Jimmy Carter that screwed up the military benefits package. Modern military personnel have more privatized health care options, I think one provider is US Healthcare. ANd my friends who are both ex-Army both told me that it was way better than they ever expected, b/c they didn't have to rely on the base medical facilities if they didn't like them.

How do you come to that conclusion? Did you serve or a military dependent? Health care services is less now only because of the Iraq war. Most doctors and nurses are serving in Iraq or other hospitals supporting the wounded and the maim coming home from Iraq.

The military benefits have been fair game for every President from Carter to Bush. Regan did more harm then any of them, it was during his terms that Military people became eligible for food stamps
