my parents are too cheap to buy me a new back pack...so they dig up the first one they can find and found an all (soft) pink messenger bag in our storage...its new, but if its a little weird, how can I make the back pack better?

Bargain with your parents...tell them you'll do extra chores and in return they should buy you a new backpack. What parent would turn down house work?!
I doubt your cheap parents would say no to your clever offer.
Show them you're willing to work to get an upgrade of a backpack. Make a list of how bad this backpack is for you...
For example:
1. New backpacks come with special features so they're easier on the back
2. New backpacks will last longer than old ones, so if you use the old one they will eventually have to buy you another backpack, and they can't guarantee that next time they'll really have money...maybe all of a sudden they both lose their jobs!
3. New backpacks are more durable, so next time you could buy your own and not need your parents help, so even if #2 happens...you won't need to rely on your parents because -THANKFULLY- they invested in a smart choice to let you clean house and they bought you a reliable and durable new backpack
You know...be clever. They'll be amused AND just maybe they'll make it a deal to give you money if you do chores around the house...you might end up with an allowance!!!

i don't understand how it could be weird unless you were a guy....so i'll just assume that you are. have a yard sale or take some stuff to a pawn shop and get some cash. OR if you have the stuff...dye the messenger bag a color more suited for your tastes.

I think you should go out and buy one yourself, or ask a friend if they have one they don't need anymore ,look round the charity shops because they are really cheap there.Don't use the pink one !

well it depends on if your parents can afford new things right now. old things can be just as good as new things. you can add some pretty cool patches on it and a few cool words cut out of material or something.

well u can try dying it a different color...and adding patches or pins (buttons...not the kind on a shirt...but the ones that say something) to give it ur own personal touch...
