Any ideas to raise money to benefit a family with a child just diagnosed with cancer?

The little girl is eitght years old. Her mother is a young single mother of 3 girls. They live in SE Nebraska in a very small town. The mother went to school with me and we worked together for quite a while. I hurt so bad for them and I just want to help them in any way I can. I would also like to start a prayer chain for them. Thank you for your suggestions and prayers.

Go to the Lion clubs in your area and tell them your story. Lion members are great at putting on pancake breakfast fundraisers and are very willing to help. I live in California and the clubs here do this all the time. Good luck

As the mother of a son with stage IV abdominal sarcoma I would suggest that you go first and ask this family what they would like you to do for them. I cannot emphasize enough that this family must approve of what you are planning. At the moment I am sure they are overwhelmed and in total shock, please give them some precious time with their child.

What you could do before planning a benefit is organize meals to be delivered to the family for as long as they need it.

When a child is first diagnosed with cancer the family can barely function. They may not even know yet what they will need. If the family would like a benefit than you need to determine what the benefit will be for. Many families already have insurance that will cover hospitalization and they have state supplements to cover the costs that insurance doesn't pick up. Too, children often are granted a Make a Wish. So, you will really need to talk to the family to find out what it is that they need the most.

Our town, friends, and family had a benefit auction, bikeathons, dinner, and other fund raisers for our son. We appreciated it and it allowed us to travel out of state for an experimental treatment.

It is difficult enough for families to be dealing with a child with cancer, and it is sweet of you to want to help, but you really need to find out first what the money will be used for . .

Sale those bracelets that look like rubber bands and have words and phrases on them. Money was raised at my son's school that way for a little girl that had cancer two years ago. She is doing well now, there was a lot of money raised the kids loved her and the bracelets. They were saling them by the tons it seemed. I bought a few.

You could get local area Gospel or country music groups to put on a concert and take donations. You might even have 3 or 4 groups play the same concert. Good luck.

You could organize a local charitable 5k race. If that is too much, you can ask a local organization like a baseball league if they are willing to help. The league in my town donated money to a struggling family.

ok try an indoor benefit yard sale or bake sale alos put out a jar with the childs picture on it .we had to do this for my husband when he got cancer because i had to quite my jod we made 1500 .00 dollars helped pay the bills.

There are all kinds of things you can do. Car washes, bake sales, auctions, etc.

Contact the "Make A Wish" foundation and see what they can do.

She could try emu oil, emu oil kills cancer cells and is safe to take. probably about 3 teaspoons a day would do it. One should always consult a doctor before trying anything new
