The tighter it is done, the wavier your hair will look. It's up to you to choose how tight it should be for the kind of waves you would like to have.

1. Brush hair to remove all tangles from hair.

2. Choose a section of hair from the crown area and divide into three sections.

3. Reaching up, braid this section once, while holding firmly to the braided section. Now pick up a similar sized section of hair from either side of the braid. Bring these sections into the braid. (Again, you will be braiding once before reaching for more hair.)

4. Keeping a firm hold on the ever growing braided section, pick up a new section from each side and bring these into the braid as well.

5. When you have come to the end of the braid, secure with a covered band to hold braid firmly. This band can then be covered with a ribbon or scrunchie.

Hope I helped ya'll! Kelsey

I've seen some great French braids that were not tight at all. I think tight French braids are uncomfortable.

It should be done tightly to stay in for a while. I always use some type of gel on damp to wet hair and then braid it and sit them under a dryer for a couple of minutes. Then it is at least dry on the outside and you can put some spray shine and hair spray on it to keep it smooth. If it is done tightly then when you take it out it is nice a wavy and that can be worn for another day or so.

A perfect french braid is how ever you want your hair to turn out. If you want "poping" curls you can do it tight or for a simple wave have loser. It's nice to have it in for a day and then take it out, you will have fabulous results!
