I know this question has been asked before, but I went back and read the best answer but it didn't really answer the question. It told us all about the various angels, Michael and Gabriel and even Lucifer, who eventually decided to be Satan.

So who created Satan, or Lucifer? And, assuming it was God, did God know that Lucifer was going to decide to be Satan, that inequity was going to be found in him, or was this a complete and utter surprise to God? Where did the inequity that was found in Lucifer come from?

OK, so God created Satan, say some. Pretty hard for me to believe though, that Lucifer had all this inequity inside himself and God didn't know it. Doesn't God know everything? But Lucifer was full of all this horrible inequity, inequity that screwed up God's original plan for a perfect world, and God didn't have a clue about this? This came as a complete and total surprise to God?

"Gosh darn it! I sure didn't know Lucifer was gonna go and do that! Now I'm gonna have to send my son Jesus down there to Earth to save people from Lucifer.

And it's all part of God's plan . . . that two-thirds of the people on Earth will suffer in hell forever because they're not Christians? That's God's wonderful plan?

The same people who created the angels created satan. These beings all are mythological and I long to see the day when people can find the courage and will to accept that fact.

GOD DID
Not to worry, Satan is destined to fail in his continuing rebellion against God. His final defeat is predicted in the New Testament (Luke 10:18; John 12:31; Revelation 12:9; 20:10). The death of Christ on the cross is the basis for Satan's final defeat (Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 Peter 3:18,22). This event was the grand climax to a sinless life during which Jesus triumphed over the enemy repeatedly (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13). The final victory will come when Jesus returns and Satan is cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:1-15)

In order to get real love out of His creation,God has to allow free will.If not then He only has robots. That pride and lust came from within Lucifer himself.Millions of angels believed him when he said he would"Ascend above and take the throne of God"....and they found also "inequity" within themseves, but 2/3rds of the angels didn't follow Lucifer, remember that. When you put all the passages about him together it seems,he was created perfect, and beautiful, got a big ego tried a "Coup"on God and was cast down,Jesus says "as lightining" to the Earth. He was here long before Adam and Eve,and was threatened by them when they were created and caused them to sin.The only difference between Adam and Satan is that Adam had a Savior to look forward to ,and everytime he offered that blood sacrifice he knew it pointed to the coming Messiah who would pay for those sacrifices(like writing checks) with His own blood(then the money for the checks was in the bank) debt paid.Satan knows that and he wants to take as many of us with him as he can.He is not in Hell yet he is roaming the Earth and is the Prince of the Power of the Air.He and his fallen ones are like a lion looking for who they can devour.
But guess what ....he loses in the end.

God created ALL the angels INCLUDING satan. Satan was the most beautiful of all of them. He was "the morning star". As beautifully colored as rainbow.
The angles were created before man. Because God so loved man and put even the angels under man it made Lucifer jealous. (iniquity)He become proud (iniquity) and arrogant (iniquity) and turned against God. (Huge iniquity) He also convinced a third of the other angels to follow him in his rebellion against God and man.(further iniquity) Satan and the other fallen angels (demons) were cast out of God's presence.
God was not surprised and was well aware it was all going to happen. He has an ultimate plan. He knew Adam and Eve would fall too. He had a plan to save us from the very beginning.

if you read the entire bible you will be able to put all these pieces together for yourself as well.

God created Satan.
John 1:1-3
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

Yes, god knew that Lucifer would choose to go his own way.
1 John 3:20
in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

Where did the iniquity found in Lucifer come from? This the Bible does not say, except that it arose within Lucifer himself.
Isaiah 14:13
"But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north."

Lucifer had an "i" problem.

God created the angel Lucifer. Lucifer sinned when he exercised his free will to proclaim himself larger than God. After being kicked out of Heaven, Lucifer became Satan.

God created Lucifer just as he created all His spiritual children. The change came when Lucifer rebelled against God and His Plan of Salvation, wanting all the glory to himself and force all mankind to return to his presence.

As a result, Lucifer, then named Satan, and a third of the hosts of heaven were cast out, never to enjoy the blessings of a mortal body as we now have and more important, to put into practice the temptations of man that would test us all to do right.

It was God's plan from the very beginning to instill free agency in man--that attribute given us to choose for ourselves what path we wish to follow that will lead us into the eternities.

Lucifer was a brilliant, intellectual spirit, but not as smart and all-knowing as God. He fell right into the plan that the Father had formed.

Origin. The Scriptures indicate that the creature known as Satan did not always have that name. Rather, this descriptive name was given to him because of his taking a course of opposition and resistance to God. The name he had before this is not given. God is the only Creator, and ‘his activity is perfect,’ with no injustice or unrighteousness. (De 32:4) Therefore, the one becoming Satan was, when created, a perfect, righteous creature of God. He is a spirit person, for he appeared in heaven in the presence of God. (Job chaps 1, 2; Re 12:9) Jesus Christ said of him: “That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him.” (Joh 8:44; 1Jo 3:8) Jesus here shows that Satan was once in the truth, but forsook it. Beginning with his first overt act in turning Adam and Eve away from God, he was a manslayer, for he thereby brought about the death of Adam and Eve, which, in turn, brought sin and death to their offspring. (Ro 5:12) Throughout the Scriptures the qualities and actions attributed to him could be attributed only to a person, not to an abstract principle of evil. It is clear that the Jews, and Jesus and his disciples, knew that Satan existed as a person.

So, from a righteous, perfect start, this spirit person deviated into sin and degradation. The process bringing this about is described by James when he writes: “Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.” (Jas 1:14, 15) In the course that Satan took, there seems to be, in some respects, a parallel with that of the king of Tyre as described in Ezekiel 28:11-19.—See PERFECTION (The first sinner and the king of Tyre).

The Scriptural account, therefore, makes it plain that it was Satan who spoke through the medium of a serpent, seducing Eve into disobedience to God’s command. In turn, Eve induced Adam to take the same rebellious course. (Ge 3:1-7; 2Co 11:3) As a consequence of Satan’s use of the serpent, the Bible gives Satan the title “Serpent,” which came to signify “deceiver”; he also became “the Tempter” (Mt 4:3) and a liar, “the father of the lie.”—Joh 8:44; Re 12:9.

The people who wrote the Bible. And they didn't get the idea until Mithraism gained popularity in nearby regions. In Mithraism, there is a good deity and a bad deity (based on the idea that the good god could not be the source of evil). The oldest Hebrew scriptures allowed the god character to do both good and bad, but when that idea became unpopular, Satan the fallen angel character was created. Case in point, the notorious 'serpent' from the garden of eden was just that... a serpent. That character was not equated with Satan until much later. Another interesting fact is that Mithras was supposedly born of a virgin (before Christ was).

The word Satan in Hebrew simply means the word ADVERSARY. and if you read in the book of ISAIAH the prophet you will see where he stated the LUCIFER IS NOT A PROPER NAME FOR SATAN. The inequity found in him was called jealousy and ego. This is the same guardian HIGH arch Cherubim assigned to guard the gates of Eden spoken of in the latter chapters of Ezekiel who decided he would leave his post and make a child with EVE - latter called Cain. A head WATCHER as the watchers are referred to in the Bible.
