I section off portions for future meals and put them in a ziplock bag, tightly closed. You can get a whole chicken in one of those if the bag is big enough.
I also reuse the ziplock bags. Wash them thoroughly with detergent, rinse well and hang them up to dry. Saves a lot of money.

we have a vaccuum sealer (the best investment we ever did) I always buy large meat packs even though there a only two of us seperate all bag it up seal it freeze it. Meat will last a year with no freezer burn (not that ours last that long). It really is the best and safest way one thing I learned all of them say u have to use thier bags check to see the one we have u can use cheap bags and they work fine.

Throw away original packaging; wrap chicken in plastic wrap and then place in freezer bag; don't keep it frozen too long. Actually chicken is best if used when purchased.

put it in a bag with as much air out of it as possible

contact with air leads to freezer burn
and a tub does not protect them
I only use plastic containers for soups and stews
