I bank on-line, and I can do it. It's secure, since your account and sort code is on any cheques you give out, and you don't hear of people getting ripped off for writing cheques.
I just log into my account and transfer funds to an account and sort code. I've not tried it internationally though.

Wire transfer can be assisted by going to your financial insitution or simply going to a western Union. I'm not sure where you live but also Walmart has Moneygram. They can assist you in wiring money to anywhere! Hope this helps!
