Here is a question for all. mainly for the martial artists that are more than just "ground and pound". What if the world had more true martial artists? I mean the ones that lead by example. The ones that are more than happy to give back. How do you think the world would change? I see alot of cheap shots in answers. So, it got me thinking. I want to hear what every one else thinks.

Maybe I missed the mark a little. I was talking about the effects on things like crime, politics (ha). I think people would be a lot more trustworthy.

Bushido, everyone strays at one point in time. I know I've had small bumps. I think it's the true martial artist that can get back on track, think so?

quicksilver..if there were more martial artists around, hopefully more good people would be here than bad. Do you think that the bad on the internet would decline? Maybe if people were to mold their lives around ,say, the tenets of TKD, then the good would snowball and overtake a lot of the bad? I'm sure there would still be some around.

that wont happen.there's to many many false teachers and false dojos.to many people put to much emphasis on fighting.i'm not saying no fighting what i'm saying is there's a time and a place for everything and there's a bigger picture.it's not just about fighting.in the modern society it's to hard to take the path never lone stay on it.i stray from it from time to time but i always manage to get back on it,but i have to admit it's hard sometimes.but if i took the easy way i wouldn't be much of a martial artist?if we could get half the people who think thier martial artists to follow half the path for half the time we'd all be a lot better off.at the end of the day we all make mistakes and where all human.it's how we deal with our mistakes deliberate or otherwise that helps define who we are as humans, men and martial artists.no excuses you f..k up you fix.you use your experience to lead by example and hopefully help people avoid the mistakes youv'e made? everyone will have a different opinion on this no doubt.one more thing it's easy for people my age to say this stuff because wev'e already been there and done the bad and stupid things, and paid the penalty for it?anyway this is just my opinion and i'm sure you could just about write a thesis on this question

I think it could happen, but as bushido said (but I'll put it in a different way), just as there's a lot of good that Martial Artists have done, there's also those bad apples who give Martial Arts a bad name or the McDojo's and belt factory schools that just keep churning out cookie cutter students just to turn a profit instead of teaching them something and encouraging them to grow and evolve as Martial Artists.

If there were more good Martial artists, those who give back, or do more to make a difference in the lives of those around them and strive to make thins better for others including themselves, then yeah I'd say that things might just be better.

but wherever there's something that can create a lot of good, can also create just as much bad stuff. The internet itself is a big testament to that.

Spending a lot of time at my dojo, and noticing the difference in the quality of my life, simply because I am constantly surrounded by a group of people who are always striving to better themselves and their world, I would have to answer you with a RESOUNDING "YES!"

Of course, a certain amount of martial arts practice goes a long way to making someone a better person, if you ask me. Not a given, of course, but the devotion and self-admonishment that is necessary for advancement to high levels usually does a lot as far as personal development.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

So you did listen then.
Is it not the ultimate goal of Buddhism for all to attain enlightenment.
Is not the ultimate goal of all whom study the Martial arts from the Temples of Shaolin to attain spiritual fulfillment.

So it has been said, so shall it be done.
