I have an kitty litter box with a top to it and somone knocked the top over one day and the cats couldnt get to the litter. So one went behind my TV and pooped. I cleaned it up and sprinkled some baking soda over the area and Febreezed it a few times. They have never done that before. Once one pooped , they all go back there now and sniff around and I have since then caught a couple of them trying to poop back there now .. What can I use that will make them stay away from that area?? I have heard something about vinegar, but that has been such a long time back when I heard that , that I dont remember if that was what they were talking about. I just am getting sick of chasing them away from that area now. Id love to get a carpet cleaner to clean the area, but Im on strict bedrest right now and dont hae the money to hire anyone to do it at the moment. So until then, is there something I could spray back there to keep them away?

Vinegar might help. Try putting down some aluminum foil in the area. Most cats hate to walk on it and it's easy to clean up. You could just put a litter box back there and over a period of a few weeks move it gradually away, the cats should follow.

Nature's Miracle will help with the smell that the cats can smell. You can get it at Petco or Petsmart. I've also read cats hate the feel of aluminum foil and the smell of oranges. You could put one or both back there for a bit.

They may like it better back there because it doesn't have a top on it. Everything I've read says that tops on litter boxes contain the smells so that cats don't like to go in them.

Vinegar is supposed to neutralize the odor. Pour some on the area then blot it up with a towel.
