What does it mean when you notice your skin becoming noticably yellow?

Is it a sign of a liver problem? Has it something to do with what you're eating?

What would you do to counter it?

Your skin changing yellow is a sign of Hepatitis, or if you are a chronic alcoholic, you could be in Level 4 of Sclerosis to the liver, maybe you have Hemochromotosis, high level of iron intake. I would go see a Doctor ASAP!

Yes its a liver or gallbladder problem, and has nothing to do with what you are eating. You MUST consult a doctor about it ASAP;
There is nothing much you can do to help it except drink plenty of water to keep flushing the excess bilirubin (the chemical which causes you to look yellow) out of your system and if its a gall bladder problem, then maybe cutting down fat intake will help a little. That said, its down to medical treatment to go pink again;

Yellowing of the skin can be caused by a thousand conditions -- from disease, to medications, to the interactions of two or more medications, etc.

The best way to help sort things out is to see if there are other symptoms that accompany the yellowing of the skin.

Below is a web site that list all the possibilities with links to other web sites with more information.

Yellow jaundice is one of the symptoms of liver problems.
It usually doesn't have anything to do with what you're eating as far as I know - unless it's TONS of yellow food coloring!
I would go see a Doctor. You don't want to fool around with your liver.

Are you sure it turned yellow? My gran once thought she was jaundiced and got very worried until we figured out it was because her bathroom had just been painted and altered her reflection in the mirror. Turning yellow can be a sign of liver disease, but it generally lasts at least a few days.

yellow skin is called jaundice, it is caused by a highlevel of a chemical called bilirubin in your blood (this is produced by old red blood cells), your skin turns yellow when there is too much bilirubin for your iver to get rid of. there are many causes all of which are natural it is very common. you need to go see your doctor for a liver function test. dont worry this is just a sample of blood! get to your doctor before it makes you really poorly. good luck x

This can be due to many different things, some more serious than others e.g. gilbert's syndrome, eating too many carrots, infection etc. If you are just getting yellow and are otherwise feeling fine it's unlikely to be that serious. Go see your doctor if you're still worried.
