They ran some tests and told her that her red blood cells are larger than normal, but haven't found any specific thing wrong. She feels there is though, any ideas?

Macrocytosis is the medical term for enlarged red blood cells (erythrocytes). Doctors may also refer to this as macrocythemia. Macrocytosis can be due to many factors. Common causes include:

Vitamin B-12 deficiency
Folate deficiency
Liver disease
Side effect of certain medications, such as chemotherapy drugs
Increase in red blood cells (regeneration), which occurs to correct anemia, for example, after blood loss
Macrocytosis causes no symptoms and is usually found incidentally on a routine blood test. Treatment of macrocytosis is directed at the underlying cause.
