I don't think stress outright can kill you, but what it will do is cause things that WILL kill you... like high blood pressure, or gastrointestinal problems. Stress can cause a stroke, or aneurysms. It can cause memory loss, stomach upset, anxiety attacks, sleeplessness, lack of appetite, mood swings, and other problems, which by themselves may not be life threatening. When they start adding up, however, they can kill you.

This might help It might help to know that feeling stressed and nervous is not unusual early in pregnancy, and those feelings will probably subside in a few weeks. After all, in addition to the hormonal ups and downs you're going through, your life is changing in profound ways. Many pregnant women initially feel stressed about how their pregnancy and the new baby will affect their careers and other obligations. Once the pregnancy is well under way and you've told friends and family, you'll probably feel more relaxed. What is certain is that the isolated periods of stress we all experience from time to time will have no harmful effect on you or your baby. As to whether long term stress will harm your baby, some studies have suggested that prolonged, severe stress in early pregnancy can increase your chances of pregnancy complications, such as pre-eclampsia and premature birth. However, other experts have questioned the validity of these studies. Some research has shown a link to hyperactive disorders in pre-school children where there has been long term anxiety and stress during pregnancy, so it is very important that you seek help and support if you are finding stress a problem.

Oh yes too much stress can kill you, cause you to be depressed, stress out your heart and other vital organs, like your stomach, intestines etc.

A lesser known stress factor is cortisol which can wreak havoc with your weight, your well being and most of your major organs.

That's why there's been such an increase in workman compensation claims all over the world, people are being stressed and overworked, due to bosses who are workaholics and obssessive compulsives and then expect their employees to be too. Stats in most industrialized countries will show you that mental health claims and stress are two of the major areas workers are claiming for leaves or just quitting their jobs.

Yes. Too much stress or depression is harmful to health.

It's not directly the stress that kills you, it's the effects of the stress- less sleep, paranoia, tension, failing appetite- that ultimately lead to hurting your body.

Yes, of course...depression can also, cause you to die,...have you heard of people who have lost their loves of their lives, and died of a broken heart? ....I don't think that you will die though, in the situation you are talking about,....If you are taking medication for depression, then you are trying NOT to be depressed...this is not the kind of stress that will kill you, as you are taking med's to control it...but, unattended depression, would probably more like lead to someone killing themself...God BLess
