i have yorkies and i have to tell you that a yorkie should never have curly hair.visit akc web page ,it will tell you the standerds for a Yorkie,it could be bad breeding if your yorkie has curly hair.

I have never seen a curly haired yorkie. You may have a mixed breed, possibly mixed with a poodle.

at about a year they get their adult hair. but i've seen yorkies who keep that thick curly hair all their lives. that's why it's important to see the parents.
if you plan on keeping it in a drop coat trim, it will help it straighten out as it grows. but that's a lot of maintenance!! brush brush brush!
