I was given 2 dozen before Christmas and went on hols and forgot them!
They were from a farm, so fresh when I got them.
We have had a few hot days but not over 25 inside.I hate wasted food!!!!

Fill a bowl with cool water so it's about 4 times deeper than the egg is wide. Put the egg in the water.

If it floats, it is BAD. Don't crack it; just very carefully throw it away (when they get too bad, they'll kind of explode if they hit something too hard, and they smell really nasty).

If the egg kind of hangs around in the middle of the water, I'd toss it, too.

If it kind of stands up on end, but still touches the bottom, it should be okay (I'd use it for hard boiled).

If it doesn't float at all, it should be just fine.

If it's been fairly cold , they MIGHT be okay, although it's been a while since the holidays. My friend used to do this and I always thought it was weird but she said chefs do this to keep the recipes more consistant. Smell them when you crack them, and crack them into a seperate bowl one at a time before adding them to whatever you're cooking.
