SINGAPORE SINGAPORE SINGAPORE SINGAPORE SINGAPORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! This admission makes me sad, because I'm fiercely loyal about all things kiwi. I flew Perth-Auckland recently and was soooo disappointed. The food was terrible, the entertainment cheap, and while the staff weren't exactly rude they weren't warm or approachable either. The experience left me quite embarrassed - this airline is representing my country internationally! It seems similar to a lot of other things I've noticed in the last 5 years, mostly centering around services. NZ had such a great reputation for so many years for being such a great clean green warm friendly country, and it's like we're so assured we're at the top of that game that while the rest of the world have identified, copied, and now surpassed our skills NZ has been too busy resting on it's laurels to notice. So, yeah, fly Singapore Air. Planes are clean, staff are friendly, approachable AND consummately professional, food is really yummy AND plentiful, and the entertainment really is totally top notch. I flew Singapore Air Heathrow-Auckland recently so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. And THAT'S all I have to say about THAT. Good luck with your travel.

"in it for the long haul..." it's an expression of length of time it will take. Meaning you'll get it done whatever it takes, however long it takes etc.
