I am interested in buying a new digital camera, somthing that I can really use my "photographic abilities" on. I usually use a small Fujifilm FinePix A340 which has worked fine, but now I want more options, features, zoom, manual abilities, ect. I'm not interested in buying a small "cute" camera, I want the professional quality kind but there are so many to choose from, at so many prices. If people can send me links of the camera or just give me buying advice (which company has good cameras, ect) that would be great! The higher the quality and cheaper the price the better! Best awnser gets 10pts!

Stay focused (heh) on digital SLRs. They have the most options, both for immediate use and future upgrades. For best bang for your buck, look to the Nikon D40. It's a smaller sized DSLR, and has fewer features than more expensive cameras, but it's an inexpensive investment to get you started, at $599.
Canon has good equipment too, but in the non-professional levels, you pay more than you should, in my opinion.
As far as where to buy, look for a local Ritz/Wolf Camera store. They not only guarantee the lowest price, but they also provide a 9 week photography course, for free, with every camera. You will learn a lot from that course. And they can cover your camera against any performance problems (except fire or loss). That includes if it is dropped, gets soaking wet, corrosion, etcetera.

It basically depends on what sort of money you are prepared to pay.
A digital SLR would certainly be a great option, but it will cost you. Not the camera so much, but the lenses (which will each cost more than the camera body alone...and then some). If price is no barrier then look at a digital SLR. Canon would be my pick (or Nikon).
Or if you want a high quality compact/prosumer type digital camera you can never go wrong with Canon.
The A640...with full Auto and Manual controls and great quality photos (and movies)...at a very affordable price (less than US$350). It only has a 4x optical zoom lens, but it does however, have 10MP to play with...which will allow plenty of room for cropping etc.
I would recommend you get a fast SD card to go with it (Sandisk Extreme III...1-2GB).

Well they do have a lot of camera equipment on ebay. U can't really depend on the pictures they have. What if the camera u ordered is a joke? no way- if ur serious u would ask someone for a financial favor and go and get urself a good camera. U should try privately owned camera shops around town. they usually carry good equipment. I live in the 818 amd could tell u about two stores i go to but i'm not sure where ur at. The Canon Rebel is good and their EOS series too. It's either Canon, Nikon, or Minolta. SLR or digital? Digital's for monkeys. ha! i'm kidding. I have a 1980 fully manual Minolta XG-M. It's great:) and i got it for free, my friend gave it to me. hey u know what u can do??...........u could ask family members or friends to see if someone has an old camera that they don't use anymore. An SLR. manual. they probably do. and if u don't like it u can trade it in:) peace:)

CNET.com does an amazing job comparing cameras and giving reviews and everything. thats the site i always go to when im looking for a new electronic to buy.
Also, the more zoom your camera has, the bigger it will probably be.
So i would say just start looking at bestbuy.com and places like that and when you've narrowed your search, go to cnet and look at the reviews, and the rating for each..they also have videos on the products.

I have and love a Cannon Rebel XT. But go here and check out nice reviews on many digital cameras. It is the single best resource when shopping for nice digital cameras.

I would buy a Kodak Or a Sony Or even canon but don't buy anything without a professional lense like a polaroid get a lense like a cario tessar or schneider kreuznach I would reccomend the latter. kodak tends to be the most cost effective also you may prefer a rechargable lithium ion battery to AA's you will get more milage this way
