Agreed. 100%.
This afterlife people speak of is nothing more than an invention that allows people to cope with mortal misery. What else could it be? Humans love to embrace opposites. Heaven represents everything pleasant that people don't get enough of, forever and ever.
The irony is that eternal bliss would soon start to feel like a prison (at least according to the human psychological paradigm.) Unless people are changed into a form of existence that does not thrive on change. The defining characteristic of our universe is change. The human psyche REQUIRES change, and more specifically GROWTH, in order to stay sane.
Unless the afterlife is remarkably similar to life, it's doubtful that beings like ourselves could cope with it for very long.

i think of you're spectacular in saying that one must be stable because of the fact it is stable, and not for some great end. The Christian could (or ought to) agree. the reason: doing God's will isn't because of the fact the command is mandatory. it is done out of want. for this reason faith is in many situations considered as a dating. that's why Christ's image of God is father. we are called to develop in faith. The trinitarian nature of God shows such an interplay. of course, the Christian advantages is heaven, whether it is not basically a advantages. it is our homestead, in an attempt to communicate. Heaven isn't a nicer earth yet basically the completed presence of God. We get there no longer by skill of our works, yet via God's grace. Grace is basically the cooperation with God. We cooperate with God by skill of forming a dating with Him. of course, the main reason at the back of believing something is via the fact it is real. we ought to constantly no longer ignore, it is usually a question of metaphysics. the two an afterlife exists or it does no longer. If sure, then the two our place there relies upon upon some human action or it is not. you will discover how some conceptions of the afterlife could dictate whether optimal a definite existence is mandatory or no longer. whether, interior the three monotheistic religions, it is approximately residing in a dating with God that would yield the advantages of an eternity of exhilaration. The jap religions are lots greater ambiguous while it includes the subject material of an afterlife. As for this existence, then, we ought to ask, what's stable? and how do all of us comprehend this?

Each person is born with a soul and when we die your soul lives on. Our physical bodies turn back into ashes as the word of God states. Our souls continue to live on, either in Heaven or Hell. Good or evil prevails, the decision is up to you. Both are eternal, once you are in Hell there will be no partying and No all of your friends will not be there! And no turning back. How does a person know they won't to go to Heaven? Belonging to God while here on this chaotic earth
is Joyful. Read: Revelation 21, describing Heaven. I can't wait! The return of Jesus us upon us Now.

I care about the afterlife merely because it's the one dark corner that we can't see around in advance. As a human, that naturally makes me curious.

The problem is that our mortality and finitude cast a pall of despair and meaninglessness over this present life. Look at the people you love and think of their inevitable death, their fragility and vulnerability to all sorts of excruciating pain, and you'll understand what I mean. Only if we believe that there is a love transcending our perishing, finite love can we have peace and joy in this life.
