The original text says Jehovah or Yahweh which means "He causes to become" that is he is the Most High over all and can become what He needs to become to accomplish His purpose. As the story goes, they were not sure how the name is actually pronounced, so it was substututed with "Lord" so as not to offend God by possibly mis prounouncing his name.

If your version is anything like the King James protestant version it's all in the capitalization. In KJ the word lord is spelled with four capital letters, LORD. This is how they generally translate the personal name of God from the Hebrew. The original language uses no vowels or lower case letters so you get something like YHWH. Some people prefer to translate this as Jehovah or Yaweh. Here's one for you: Can you know someone without knowing their name?

yes God is a title, God has a name just like you do. his name is Jehovah, Jesus Christ is the son of the Most Holy Father. when you know someone, you want to know there name. so you can call on them anytime of day or night. and if you don't know there name, how can you call on them.
