I'm sorry you experienced that. Religious intolerance between faiths and intolerance between the faithful and faithless is a sad fact of life. Only look at so many of the posts here. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone was here to ask genuine questions and learn something new - something that might make them think a little more about things they'd never considered? Instead we have to surf through the trolls to find the "regular" people like you. Some of the "bad apples" even seem to think they're somehow *entitled* to be rude, based on some of the looniest logic I've ever seen.
Sweetie, just remember not *everyone* is like that. Me, personally I'm a Christian, but I'm not going to start hating you for what *you* believe, whether we share the same faith or not. You could be one of the members of that Flying Spaghetti Monster church or you could be a Muslim or a Wiccan or maybe you belong to some faith I've sadly not been fortunate enough to have even heard of. I believe in God. I believe in Christ. And I believe in the commandment to love one another. There are many other people of many other faiths (or non-faiths) who follow some version of that basic principle as well, so don't let the kooks make you question your faith all together.
Edit - I didn't phrase something well. When I said "look at the posts here," I meant the whole Religion & Spirituality forum, not this particular thread.

Religion is only a disappointment if you expect anything positive from it. I don't.
Is there 'a need' for it to be all-consuming and breed hate? No, but that's what almost always happens when you challenge someone's world-view with an opposing one.

Mark Twain once said " Christianity would be a marvelous religion, if there were just more practicing Christians"
and that always been the case with all the organized religion
You have remember ever since man has been around , there has been two guiding principles in witch he has infused to everything he has done(I Para-phrase)
1: "My car is coolest and chicks dig it."
2:"My dad can beat up your dad."
just fill in the blanks as needed
or put more simply there is "US" and there is "THEM". Its the sad truth but there it is.

There is a lot of confusion regarding religion and christianity.
Religion is man made, but a relationship with the living Lord Jesus Christ is very much different.
The truth lies not in a religion, but in Jesus Christ who died for your sins, took the punishment on a cross for which you and I and the rest of mankind deserved. That is how much He loves you.

I believe in freedom of religion. I also believe to each his own. I don't think that anyone should try to force his belief's on anyone else. If so, then that person has a problem.

Religion is a tool of the Devil (the real one not the red pitchfork horny guy) used to divide us and keep us ignorant,
The more religious someone is, the more ignorant they become.

Only in some religions.
I'm a Wiccan. We generally don't have that problem. It's the mainstream, book-based faiths that create strife.

well i think he is wrong for doing that. i think you should continue learning more about your religion and try to seek as much truth as you can. and i think to believe in any religion is way better than then not believing in one at all. religion teaches us morality and good behavior. iim a muslim. and i love all religions as much i love my own :) love & peace
