Oh girl, you have my sympathy. I went through the same thing when my youngest was 6 months and my oldest was 2.5.
I would pack when they went down at night (7 pm) and do a little bit during their naps. I also would hire a babysitter to play with them for a few hours on Saturday so that I could pack then.
If you are financially able to, you may want to call your local moving company and have professional packers come and do some packing for you. They can do as little or as much as you want them to.
Good luck.

One tip would be to make or buy some sort of sling you can put Baby in. It's a lifesaver for me. My baby is almost 7 months old, and I can put her in one and do just about anything, including scrubbing floors, vacuuming, etc. That should help with at least SOME of the packing.
Second, my baby LOVES anything crinkly and noisy...packing material fits this description. Try tossing a couple of paper wads her way. It might help keep her distracted, if only for a few minutes.
I understand you can't hire a sitter, but do you know anyone in town? I'm a military wife, and people I knew got movers REALLY cheap. It was called a "moving party". You supply some pizza and beer, and they pack eveyrthing. It's a possbile solution, at least for a good portion of it.
Maximize the two hours a day that she naps. You may be able, while she's awake, to sort stuff out. Even with her on your hip, you can put various items into a pile. When she sleeps, that's when you pack breakables or whatnot.
Good luck.

you could buy a baby swing and put it in there and let it rock for a while and you do the packing and when the baby crys check on it to see if it is hungry or wet. Otherwise it will be fine or lay it on it's tummy for a little bit with toys and pack while it is playing. You don't have to be holding that baby every moment it will be fine and good luck with the move I hope this helps.

Well, the great thing about babies is, they sleep like 16 hours a day, even though it may be in short intervals. Take advantage of her naps! If you can, have a friend or family member babysit, or at least come over to entertain your little one while you work. If you have a swing, bouncy chair, etc, put it to good use. Try putting on some music, and taking her in the room that you are working on. Talk to her, dance around, try to have fun and keep her and you in high spirits. Most of all though, take advantage of her naps!

Call family! Have them try to help out! I had to move last August and my baby was 3 months old but thank god I have 3 others who watched over him a lil', then when my hubby came home he was so tired from work he didn't even want to look at it! So see if Friends or family is willing to take your lil one for a few hours while you pack! Good Luck!

Wear her in a sling.
Put her in a jumper in the doorway or an exersaucer.
Get a neighbor to come over and help.
Get a neighborhood teen to come babysit for cheap...since you'll be in the house you shouldn't have to pay much. You could even hire a younger girl (say 13) since you'll be home.
Any relatives who could help you pack or help watch baby?
Work while she's sleeping.
Put her in her high chair in whatever room you're working in.
Lay a blanket out in the floor where you are working for her to play.
Work in short spurts - no more than about 15 minutes at a time. Don't start big jobs if you don't have a helper.

I'm going through that exact same thing, I also have a 6 year old that i have to entertain too. (school holidays). When bub sleeps I gat the older one organised with something to do, then i pack like crazy before bub wakes, even if it just a couple of boxes a day, at least thats a couple of less boxes later.

Organize boxes and paper, then when she is down for a nap start packing. You may loose some sleep but you best best if you don't have a friend or family to watch her for a few hours a day then do it when she's sleeping.

I had to got through this twice. Its hard to do it on your own. What i did was put them in their room and put a baby gate up. I packed a little and checked on them every few min. I also had a monitor so I could hear them. I felt comfortable leaving them in their room because is was baby safe.
You could try putting her in a play pen with some toys. If you don't have a play pen her crib would work too.
Good luck.

What about a playpen? If it is because you are worried about her getting into things, or escaping out the back door while you're busy it might be just the trick.
Do you have any kiddy dvd's? Another good temporary 'babysitter' while you are busy.
