I do home daycare and when I do something that one of the parents aren't thrilled with, I appreciate them to just tell me. If the sitter really likes caring for your child then they will go with what you say. It is your child and you have a right to decide what they would be allowed to watch and a sitter should abide by that. If it was me, I would just come out and tell her that you don't like what your child sees when the soaps are on. You don't feel that it is appropriate for a child to watch. Suggest that maybe she could tape the soaps during the day and watch them after the children have all left for the day.

Tell her you don't think soap operas are appropriate for children your child's age and you don't approve of him/her watching them so while she is babysitting your child then you don't want her to watch them. If your child is very young, say under 2, then you don't really have to worry about the content, but it is still your call, she is your employee and has to follow your rules or you need a new babysitter.

You act like the soap opera is porn or something. Realize now that if you don't stand your ground and speak your mind on issues that matter to you, your kids will undoubtedly grow up to be just like you. You aren't being out of line by telling the babysitter to keep your kid's eyes off of the soap opera, speak up for yourself and instill the same quality in your kids!

just tell the lady you don't have cable. Or close the connector to the t.v. Just to make sure. Because you know she will do it. There should be a lock on your t.v. that you have to program so she can't watch it. I do this just to play practical jokes on my mother when I am at her house..I block judge judy. It's easy to do, and only you will know the password. The babysitter shouldn't be watching t.v. anyways. Just tell her, I don't want you watching soap opera, she will say why, and have a good excuse. sexual reasons, tell her this and block it.

" I do not want my child to watch soap operas." If you feel the need you can also give an explanation as to why. Non are necessary though as that is your child and you are paying this person to watch the child not your T.V.

Like this. My child is not allowed at anytime to watch soap operas. Therefore, please do not permit him/her to do so. So, it is a good idea for u not to view soap operas on duty as this will ensure that my child will not view them either. Allowing my child to view soap operas is grounds for immediate termination. Do you understand? Ok. EASY AS 1, 2, 3. LOL

The next time you get her just say stuff like " yeah he's been acting really wierd and dramatic lately like he's in a soap opera and I don't even let him watch that so I don't know why." Then she'll get the point and she'll know that you know he's watching them. Just don't say it straight forward. Very awkward for a twelve year old.

You say, "I do not want my child watching soap operas." You shouldn't have to explain why, and if you do have to explain, then she's not the sitter for you.

If your sitter is a soap junkie and you don't trust her to follow your instructions then just block them from your cable or dish network and explain that you don't want her to watch that sort of thing so you have blocked it. That should get the point across loud and clear without any other hassle
