my other cat which is a 7 year old female calico, seemed okay at first as the cat i brought home was the same breed and was 7 months so she wasnt a threat to my cat, however as we approached the 4th day of the new cat being here I noticed that the younger cat was getting agressive while playing and even at times fighting because she kept cornering my cat in the closet and was at times almost taunting her to make a move.. I also noticed that my cat was very afraid to even walk by the new kitty to get to her litter box or food...I started thinking that she may be to much for the older female to handle?

I dont know...I ended up taking her back to the shelter today and feel very guilty, she was a beautiful cat and really started to feel comfortable here, she didnt do anything wrong except be that cat she is... when I got home i noticed a big chnage in my older cat, she was more alive and made noise and even greeted me by the door.. did I do the right thing taking the cat back?

I know how difficult this was for you. It does seem that your cat is telling you that she is happy now without the other cat. According to everything I read you should normally keep a new cat separated from the old cat and only allow them to see each other for a few minutes every day. I did this when I introduced a new cat to My old cat. It worked quite well for me. If You decide to get another cat try separating them for several weeks. try not to feel guilty about your decision. I'm sure the young cat will find a good home.

Hi. It's sad 2 hear of any cat's death. U have my condolences.
It was very kind of u to give a new cat a home. Unfortunately, beings of any kind aren't always going to get along. Do humans always get along w/ others? U tried 2 do the right thing; it didn't work out. Try another cat, but e-mail thepetshow.com for more detailed help. Also, check to c if the returned cat was able to be adopted.

NO YOU DIDN'T.

Just because they are cats it does not mean they are going to love one another right off the bat. If you knew anything about cats, you probably know that you are suppose to keep the cats separate at first! You keep the new cat in a room and let the other sniff at it through the door. It takes time for cats to accept one another!

The younger one was trying to play because THAT IS WHAT KITTENS DO! THEY PLAY... A LOT.. and THEY JUMP AND BITE! It is called... uh, "BEING A BABY"

Don't get another cat.
