A fever of 103 is concerning. If the fever is still that high in a few hours, I would take him to an ER. While it's unlikely, meningitis is a possible diagnosis. His being "very tired" could actually be altered mental status, which is a sign of meningitis. Definitely bring him to an ER if he develops neck stiffness, sensitivity to light or a rash. If a reallt serious disease like meningitis is even a remote possibility, it's better to be on the safe side.

The temp is not high enough to be of concern. A few more degrees could become an issue. His body is generating a temp, most likely in an attempt to fight of infection, so don't try and supress the fever. Instead, let it run its course, (monitor for temp spikes), and keep him hydrated with Gatorade and wash clothes, and let him continue to rest. You know what you're doing, mom! You're an ole' pro! (If his temp gets past 105 F and the rest doesn't help, then you should probably take him on in to the emergency room)

If his fever doesn't break, you need to take him to the doctor's office. He needs a lot of rest but make sure and watch his temp - keep giving him the gatorade too. He may need something more than over the counter drugs.
