Most of mine have been "anonymously donated," AKA dumped, but when I've bought one I've gone to an animal shelter. I don't breed cats so there's no need to get one from a breeder. And the animal shelter has a huge variety to choose from, more than any breeder or pet store has to offer. They cost about 50-100 bucks from the shelters in my area, and that includes testing for feline leukemia, spaying, and all shots. That's better than free when you figure out how much getting that initial vet work done would cost you.

My free "anonymously donated" cats generally ran me around 150+ in vet costs the first month to spay them and get their shots and wormings, and that was with a discount because I had a vet who gave them to his regular customers. If you're looking for a pet as opposed to a cat you can show, the shelters are the best choice in terms of price and selection. I generally go to the "kill" shelters and because I'm not only getting a cat at a bargain price but I'm keeping one from being euthanized.

Instead of buying a kitten, may I suggest adopting one from your local Animal Shelter.

I've done Animal Rescue for 30+ years and know from personal experience that there are so many animals who need loving homes, just waiting for a special family to come and take them.

Alot of Animal Shelters ask for a "donation" when adopting an animal. This money goes towards helping the Shelter to continue to help other animals in need, who are also waiting for a good home. The money will buy supplies of all kinds (medicine, food, blankets, food, cat liter, etc.).

Please consider this route instead of buying a kitten from you local Pet Store.

Have a lovely rest of the evening. CONGRATULATIONS on the newest member of your Family (your kitten).

Just about anyone would be more than happy to sell you a kitten, but if you want to do everyone a favor go to your nearest animal shelter. They will have a wide choice of ages, attitudes, colors, etc., plus they will have had their shots.

I found that the best way to buy kittens is from a breeder. You have to make sure they are reputable and they don't keep their cats in cages.

To check them out, see if they are playful AND clean. Then come back and buy it if you like one, cash would be perferred by a breeder.

no need to buy one unless you want pure breed. ...look in your local new paper... most people give them away unless they have papers on them...
