Well, if you had a GOOD quality dog, you would NOT be looking here. SPAY or NEUTER. Chows are a horrid breed for most people and we do not need anymore of them bred poorly.

I have breed chows for years. I retired mine and i chose to switch to boxers due to my home owners insurance, It is not easy to find a good mate anymore to buy nor breed.

They used to be everywhere but not anymore. I live in indiana and got my last female from Texas. After carefully checking them out, flying down and getting it vet checked and reviewed the bloodline.

I would be very carefull you dont just want to breed with any chow you need to find good genetics, temper, and bloodline. Chow chows are still my passion however not for everyone . My puppies were of champion bloodline, with good temperment but just stopped because chow ownership isnt for everyone.

You have to be commited to your chow and make sure the puppies will have an owner that will treat it the same also. As you know a Chow will not do well when someone decides they are too much work and either dump them or give them away, they are truly a one family dog and as they get older dont do well if that family "leaves them"

Please don't breed your dog unless you are a qualified breeder. Please have your animal fixed. Before "looking for a mate" has your dog been checked for genetic disorders? Do you know how to monitor the pregnancy and assist in the birth? Do you have the money needed for the car of puppies? Do you have homes for them? If all the answer yes, then go talk to the breeder your dog came from.

If you can honestly handle all this and want to make a mix, stick to another type of Spitz.

I work in a pet store and volunteer with rescue... If you could see the number of animals we try to keep out of our store or have to put down in shelters, I'm sure you wouldn't consider this, unless you're a registered breeder with demand.

If you mean could your achieve predictability in type, & by that I mean appearance, temperament & innate characteristics, then no. Unless the sire & dam are the same purebred breed, the b*tch will whelp a litter of mutts. The genetic inheritance of a litter with a mixed genetic ancestry cannot be predicated, & each puppy may favor one breed over the other, with no consistency is type, which a prerequisite of a purebred. The puppies would however be Chow Spitz mutts.

Please don't. There are too many puppies and dogs being killed every day because there are so many. Please go to http://brightlion.com/InHope/InHope_en.aspx

"Each day approximately 10,000 people are
born in the United States.

Each day approximately 70,000 puppies and
kittens are born as well."

Do the math: If every person born in the United
States obtained ONE of those puppies and
kittens:
70,000 - 10,000 = 60,000 SURPLUS puppies and
kittens!

What happens to these surplus animals - they die!
