I bleached my dark mahogany hair last night (real color is mousy brown), and of course all of it turned a real pretty sunset orange except for two inches of nasty yellow blond from the scalp down. I really dig the orangy color and want to dye the roots the same. I matched the color to Ginge Spice by Garnier, can I do this without it turning green. And no, before you say anything, I can not go to the stylist. They wanted 200.00 bucks to bleach my hair in the first place. Please give advise.

The reason the roots are yellow is because the scalp radiates body heat, which processes the bleach faster, and also the natural color bleaches way faster than artificial color (especially when it's darker). The reason bleached hair turns green when you color it darker is because hair that has been bleached to a certain point no longer has the red pigments, and when you add in a box color they have counted on you having a little of that red still left and so they don't put as much of that in. Basically, red is the opposite of green so to get rid of green you add red and vice versa. If you're coloring your hair red it won't turn green.

b leaching red hair was not smart. You should have done your research on how the color wheel and hair dye work.

& If you couldnt afford to get your hair bleached you should have never done it your self. Your not a profestional. You should also never bleach your hair and say 'ok thats it' because your supose to use a toner after bleaching. Bleaching removes color. It does not give you a color. And its lighter at the scalp because the heat from your head makes the prosses go faster there. So i avise you go to the store and get a color that you disire.

Spritz your hair with some water so it is damp so dye can evenly penitrate. Place dye in the blond band first and let it stand for two minutes then aplly to your whole head.

Also bleached out sunset isnt that fashionable or attractive looking. It will just look like you had a hair malfuntion. which you did. Do your reaserch. Google hair coloring fixes etc.

If you are using the color of a box to match the color on your head it will not be the same. However To do it you will have to apply it in seperate layers using tin-foil over lapping pieces to make sure it gets done not in large pieces. you might need someone to help you, this isn't an easy task to do yourself, You will need a brush not a hair brush a brush to apply the color to the hair pieces it will be like painting your hair. You will need to leave this on for approximatly 10-15min. Then to get it all to match you will want to apply this color from a bottle to your entire head leaving it on for another 10 minutes. After you do this you will need to condion your hair and leave the conditioner on for a good 5 minutes and let it work into the hair. Your hair will not turn green, it will not fall out unless you keep coloring it or doing more damage like this to it.
