The children of Irish citizens are automatically Irish citizens no matter where they are born, so either, or both, of your parents were Irish citizens. Anyone born on the island of Ireland (North and South) is entitled to Irish citizenship. Even though you were born in the UK you are also an Irish citizen and entitled to an Irish passport and a British one.
You can see full details of Irish citizen entitlements through birth or descent at the site below:

No of course not
You have a UK Passport by virtue of the controlling interest of the British in the north and for that reason only. Your Irish passport is your birthright and all people born on the island are entitled under the constitution of the Republic of Ireland.
I was born in Britain as part of the UK but can hold both passports only because my father is Irish and no other reason

convinced you could have both passports. I have the both passports. I stay in Northern eire and that i have been given the British passport years in the past. I count number myself as Irish so I were given the Irish passport about 2 years in the past. I had to deliver away my father and mom start certificate besides as my personal lengthy start certificate and that i now have both passports. wish this facilitates.

This '1. It is the entitlement and birthright of every person born in the island of Ireland, which includes its islands and seas, to be part of the Irish nation. That is also the entitlement of all persons otherwise qualified in accordance with law to be citizens of Ireland. Furthermore, the Irish nation cherishes its special affinity with people of Irish ancestry living abroad who share its cultural identity and heritage' entitles you to it. (all on island of Ireland entitled to it otherwise irish heritage or naturalisation required). I was born in southampton, uk but only have irish passport b'cos both my parents are irish ... I could go for UK one but i don't want to.
