So why in Mark 11:24 is the mandate to "only believe", but in 1 John 5:14, it says prayers are answered according to "His will"?? Why do these contradict one another?

Is the Bible false or does faith not work?? Which is it????????

Thanks for the question. I already addressed God's Will in your other question and I think this is more clear when you realize what Mark is saying. These are the words of Jesus, when he is speaking to his disciples prior to sending them out.

Now, notice what Jesus says specifically, "...believe that you have received it..." Note, he doesn't say, 'believe it will happen or that you will get it.

Jesus is speaking about the will of God and receiving blessings, strength.

There is no wishy-washy when you understand. It is left to God's Will, and if we are praying in God's Will, it will be done.

Now, you do know of the verses that talk of patience, long-suffering and even the disciples to be relieved of pain or ailment, right?

you already doubted..look:
Mark 11;22 Jesus said to them, "Have faith in God ! I can guarantee this truth: This is what will be done for someone who doesn't doubt but believes what he says will happen: He can say to this mountain, 'Be uprooted and thrown into the sea,'and it will be done for him. 24: That's why I tell you to have faith that you have already received whatever you pray for, and it will be yours.Whenever you pray, forgive anything you have against anyone. Then your Father in heaven will forgive your failures."
as for 1 John 5:14 -We are confident that God listens to us if we ask for anything that has his approval.
they do not contradict each other. the key in the Mark scriptures, forgiveness first.
how can you ask of something for you or what ever if you yourself have not asked of yourself as a person? what is harbored in your heart? you're asking yet, what are your intentions and desires? what, if any, do you hold anything against anyone? one must be responsible for ones thoughts and actions.
and, as God being the Father figure, it is one of a parental approval. He knows what we truly need and want, somethings in our lives need to be removed or cleaned up. that is where the forgiveness comes in.
the bible isn't "wish-washy", it is usually the person who is reading it.

God will answer your prayers but not as a result of your positive mental attitude. Other conditions must be met: (1) You must be a believer; (2) you must not hold a grudge against another person; (3) you must not pray with selfish motives; (4) your request must be for the good of God’s Kingdom. To pray effectively, you need faith in God, not faith in the object of your request. If you focus only on your request, you will be left with nothing if your request is refused.

Remember, the Bible was translated by scholars. At times, there appears to be an error. If you read it carefully, using many study tools, you will begin to see everything come into place. Also, PRAY before you embark on this journey!

GOD bless

if they didn't they should have. why else would a self proclaimed perfect in every way so called "GOD" write a bible then have another one written because unforeseen things happened that caused unexpected problems? what happened with the dinosaurs? why is there no mention of them in the bible? could it be that the superstitious retards that wrote the bible didn't know much? i think so.

Now if we pray against his will...have you seriously considered how that might work? of course we pray according to his will. suppose for one instance we could void his will for ours not only mess up our lives but the lives of others....Your argument is ridiculous! So those who wish we all should go to hell simply prays and salvation is lost? lol...It is impossibel to get things that are against his will and it is only reasonable and sane to understand this.

Ask for something that Jehovah will give to you.
Ask for understanding, guidance, help in learning about Him so you can be approved by him.
Do so with sincerity, and Jehovah will answer those types of prayers if you are willing to do your part and act on them.

They don't contradict each other, one is qualified by the other. Did you ever hear about not taking something out of context? there is a reason for it.
