Your question excited me since I used to work as a "barista" in a coffeeshop and learned something new everyday from the coworkers along with the customers plus reading about the wonderful product of "COFFEE".

Many studies have been made about drinking coffee and it's effects on the body. There are as many people with positive conclusions as those negative.

It's a fact that anything we do in excess can be damaging to our health. Especially with coffee or fast food or anything that is not a requirement for our basic health needs can have side affects and ingredients that can cause our body to show signs of not agreeing with our internal functions.

Caffeine affects people in different ways...and to some it has no affect other than a buzz that gets you going. In some people it causes soreness in different parts of the body. When eliminated it goes away. Some get heartburn from the coffee. Decaf coffee helps many enjoy coffee without the trembling or acid problems to the digestive system.

I recently read that some Europeans "boil their coffee" this causes the rise in "cholesterol". Other studies have shown in some people it can raise the blood pressure and and can cause irregular heartbeats. These facts I read when someone consumes a high amount of coffee.

There are too many reasons why I love coffee even after reading these facts. It warms me when it's cold, helps me wake up, I love the taste and all the different ways you can drink it flavored, creamed, sugared and hot or cold over ice. I won't give it up unless my doctor says to stop drinking it..Until then I'm going to slowly sip my coffee with hazelnut creamer added.

Coffee is bad only because of the caffeine. But most sodas are just as loaded with caffeine. A mocha latte every once in a while won't hurt you, nor will a cup of coffee a day or a soda a day. It's when you start drinking lots of any of them that it's not good for you. Caffeine raises blood sugar, adrenaline, and heart rate. Good for alertness; bad overall.

Well, the word caffeine comes from coffee so it has a whole lot of that in it! It has good and bad things about it. It can cause sleep problems, stomach problems, etc., but for the most part it is harmless (even in large amounts). It's all that other crap people put it in like sugar and milk substitutes that makes it not as good for you.

Bottom line: coffee, by itself, is not bad for you.

That is kind of like asking if carrots are good for you.

Sure, if eaten in moderation. Six pounds a day might be a little rough on the digestive system, and the value of it would be lost somewhere near the first or second carrot.

Coffee is the same way. Sure it has caffeine and yes it is not all that good for you, but if taken in moderation, the benefits of it are to get some of us going in the morning.

But used to excess, you can get caffeine poisoning and that isn't good.

It's both good and bad for you, just like anything else. It has antioxidants in it and will help you most when you drink it black. Antioxidants help knock out the free radicals in your body, thus preventing cancer. Coffee has caffeine in it, which they say can be good within moderation. About 400 to 450 milligrams of caffeine per day is healthy (about two cups). At least rinse your mouth after drinking coffee. It stains teeth and gives bad breath.

Well, I can't say it's bad for you, but if you didn't drink it, you'd be better off without coffee than with coffee.

Coffee has caffeine. It makes you addicted to this stuff, and if you don't have it, you simply go nuts, you can't stay awake, or similar problems simply because you don't have enough of this caffeinated drink.

It can be good to wake you up once in a while but it's not something that should be made into a habit. I've heard somewhere saying that Coffee makes you smarter now but it's mostly because when you wake up in the morning.. your mind is just not very clear at all.

Caffeine is a substance that exists naturally in certain plants, including tea leaves, kola nuts, cocoa beans and COFFEE. It can also be produced synthetically and added to foods and beverages.

Caffeine is a stimulant. It can increase alertness and even enhance performance of certain tasks. For most people, moderate doses of caffeine — 200 to 300 milligrams (mg) a day — aren't harmful. However, excessive caffeine — more than 500 mg a day — can cause irritability, nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, headaches and diarrhea.

Well, NOW "they" say it's good for you.

Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?

If it sounds too good to be true, think again.

Coffee, the much maligned but undoubtedly beloved beverage, just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.

After analyzing data on 126,000 people for as long as 18 years, Harvard researchers calculate that compared with not partaking in America's favorite morning drink, downing one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily can reduce diabetes risk by single digits. But having six cups or more each day slashed men's risk by 54% and women's by 30% over java avoiders.

If you drink too much, you can get addicted. There's also some caffeine in it, but that's only if you drink a lot.
