Okay, last week my bestfriend Taylor told me that she smokes cigarettes. She only does it when she is stressed, angry, etc. She never pressures me because she is trying to quit. Taylor does NOT smoke because she thinks its cool. It started when she was eleven. Her mom and older brother both smoke and her mom gives her cigarettes. Now heres a twist. My parents found out and now they don't want me to be around her. Whenever I ask them if I can go to the movies with her and a bunch of other people they just say that I can't because I could be smoking too. I really don't want to lose my bestfriend over something this stupid. Please help me =/

'splain to parents why you don't and that she needs your influence to break the habit. They think she will influence you.

First tell your friend to quit smoking, she is still young enough, to hopefully save her health. I smoked cigs. for many years and quit. tell her she has to get it in her mind first that she wants to quit, then she will. and If your parents wont let you go with these other kids, I would say they just want to protect you from harm. Parents are like that you know. Instead of trying to go other places with this friend ask if she can spend time with you at your house, make it very clear to your friend that she cannot smoke at your house or she will mess everything up. If she really wants to be your friend she will not smoke at your home.

wow. thats a tuff one. I guess it kinda depends on your parents and your relationship with them. Sit them down for a real talk. Ask them to let you get out your side before they talk. Tell them how you feal about your friend, your views on smoking and why they should trust you. Ask them if they've ever been in a situation like this and if they say no then their lying. Just because your friend does something they don't agree with does'nt meen that they should be judging either of you. but if you've done somithing to make them think you can't be trusted then your srewed.

I would ask your parents to talk ... Do they have any friends that smoke? Smoking doesn't make you a bad person, just making a bad choice. Explain to them you want to help her to quit, and you would never do it.

Your parents love you and this is their method of protecting you. You have to assure your parents that you will not give in to peer pressure and start smoking. Tell them that you will never break their trust, but they have to trust you on this.

Try and convince your parents that they should trust you. Guilt trip them and tell them how they have no reason not to trust you. Besides, it's not like she's doing anything illegal and you can make your own decisions. You're not her.
