One day, I just picked up my dog's paw and swung it from side to side. Then I repeated the action on its other paw. Afterwards, I gave him a big hug. Now, he'd always greet me with his paw.
I tried it on his brother and it works well too.

I taught all 4 of my dogs to "shake". But first, they must know how to sit.
HOW TO SHAKE:
1. get on her level...sit on the floor
2. have treats ready (they need motivation)
3. tell her to sit
4. pick up her paw while at the same time, telling her to "shake" or whatever word you would like her to learn.
5. while her paw is still in your hand, tell her "good girl!" and give her a treat. This step will have to be repeated several times.
6. after step #5 has been repeated several times, just hold out your hand and say the "magic" word. She won't get it at first, you'll have to grab her paw again. But it is important that you do not grab it right away. Tell her "good girl" and give a treat. Repeat this several times. She will pick up very quickly that she gets a treat and you are happy when her paw in in your hand and she will gladly raise up her paw for you to hold.
After you and you are her have learned the process, you can now go from giving her treats to praising and a nice pat on the head. That pleases them just as much.
I had my dogs knowing how to shake within an hour of using this method

As the dog's owner you must understand what she is capable of doing. My JRT is able to give you his paw but I taught him this at a young age so you might be up for more of a challenge, this does not mean that it can not be done. When I taught Austin "high five" he knew how to sit, this way he was attentive and alert when learning his new trick. We were in the bedroom by ourselves (with no one to distract his attention from me) and I gave him the sit command and praised him after he did so. I then told him to give me "high five" and he did not understand what this was. I then took his front paw and said "high five" as a I shook it and repeated this with lost of praise for every time he did not pull his paw away (don't use a lot of pressure when "shaking" her paw, make the experience as pleasant as possible.) Try this for a few minutes a day as you don't want to over-work her and if she does not get, do not punish her. When she does begin to give you her paw reward her with lots of praise and a treat. Keep up with it too! As she may learn how to shake but may not remember if you don't "test" her now and then!

Did this recently with my dog. Have her sit while you hold a piece of treat, then give her the treat. Then start having her sit, then say the word "Paw" as you reach out one hand and take her paw...then give the treat. Do this consistently several times a day. She sould start lifting her paw on her own, then puttinjg it in your outstretched hand in order to earn her treat.

Stand up (or crouch,if you've got a smaller dog).
Command 'sit' from the dog. Praise as usual, because doggie was a GOOD DOGGIE! (you know the drill, lol).
Take her paw and shake it firmly, giving the command 'shake' and giving a piece of treat at the same time. Do it a few times a day and she'll get it within a week or two.

I know of two different ways that have worked on almost any dog I have ever met.
1. Sit on the floor in front of your dog and start scratching its chest, really get the dog into it you should be able to tell, then withdraw your hand and place it palm up on your knee and sort of ignore the dog but watch her out of the corner of your eye. When she starts pawing at you praise her say the command and start scratching again at the same time.
2. Get a treat that will make her mouth water. Hold the treat where she can see it and tell her to sit. give the command in your command voice and watch her, wave the treat to remind her of it. She won't know what to do at first but keep doing this giving her about 30-45 seconds in between commands and treat waving. Soon she will start doing different things and one should be to wave her paw at you, when she does then praise her, and give her the treat within 2 seconds of her doing the action.
Dogs are intelligent and they get a big kick out of figuring out what you want on their own. My dog tells me exactly what he can do because I encourage him to work for affection and treats.

Whenever you give her a treat tap her leg and saw whatever command you want her to respond to in order to give you her paw; (Shake, give me your paw, wave etc.)
Sometimes you will have to physically lift her leg a little in order for her to get the message. After a few times she will get the picture that in order to get the treat she needs to give you her paw. After a while she will learn to do it with just the voice command.
