every dog(with the exception of huskies and other nordic breeds that are working sled dogs) should be a family member living in the house. they are pack animals and should not be forced to live outside, alone. it will take some work to acclimate him to your home but you should really try, he will be much happier living in your company, especially such a people loving breed as the lab

PS not trying to be a know it all to the girl above me so please don't take it that way, but have had labs and know several peeps who do and they do shed quite a bit, but you can cut down a bit on it if you feed a high quality dog food, oh and they are called yellow labs not creme :)

Labs are great dogs!! You should have had him in the house when he was younger because now things that wouldn't have bothered him if he had lived in the house will scare him (like the vacuum, blow dryers, microwaves). Bring him inside and try to get him used to that stuff.

They are if their raised right, but you should have had them in the house since he was a pupppy and crate train him, but in order to make him a good house pet, i suggest crate training them, it teaches them independence and also house training, oh btw the persom above i think you thinking of golden who shed, labs barely shed because their coat is menat for water

Labs make wonderful housedogs. Your yellow Lab will be a lot happier, better socialized and better mannered if he lives inside with you.
