I just made popcorn at Christmas time to give out. What I did is started with fresh popped popcorn and got a recipe off of the Lorann oils site and it was basically making a candy type of mixture. I used butter rum then you stir it into the pop corn and lay it out on wax paper to let it cool before I broke it into pieces I took and melted some butterscotch chips with some shortening and then drizzled it over the popcorn let it cool and broke it into pieces and sent it off for the family to enjoy. They are still talking about it how great it turned out.
There is a website for the Lorann oils website with recipes as well.
Hope you like

Dad’s Microwave Caramel Popcorn
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick margarine
¼ cup light corn syrup
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda
3 quarts popped popcorn
Place sugar, margarine, corn syrup, and salt in a large microwave-safe Pyrex measuring cup. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Add baking soda and stir well; microwave syrup on high for 20 more seconds.
Place popped popcorn in brown paper bag, and pour syrup mixture over popcorn. Fold bag top, and shake to evenly coat the popcorn. Microwave bag of popcorn on high for 1½ minutes. Remove and spread popcorn on a cookie sheet to cool. Break into bite-size pieces and enjoy! Store in an airtight container.
Variations: For Peanut Butter Caramel Corn, substitute ½ cup of Peanut Butter for a half of the margarine. For Caramel Corn with Peanuts, add 1 cup of salted peanuts to the popcorn, before adding syrup.
