I installed the game then it gives me this error that says "This application or DLL C:/WINDOWS/System32/dmusic.dll is not a vaild windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette

I done played the game and it is easy to beat now.
Just erase all the files of 1942, from the desktop if any, and go to the control panel then to add/delete programs and click this to ensure no files are partially loaded here.
Then try a reload. Also GET OFF the internet and disable your antivirus protection and maybe even the firewall. I find that some programs will not down load with my Norton's anti-virus working. You do this without being on the internet so you do not pick up anything while your protection is disable.
Anymore problemos, give me a buzz.
Also after you get the game successfully downloaded, go to fileplanet.com for patches there. Let me know.

Download the dmusic.dll file (direct music from DirectX API) here:
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/dmusic.dll/5.3.2600.2180/download.html
Then, place it in the C:\Windows\system32 directory, replacing the current version if prompted. This may fix your issue.
