Well at work we have soups and condiments. My question is do you think it would be worth it to purchase a garbage disposal for old soup and old condiments instead of dumping the old smelly food into a garbage can?

Not really. That stuff should go down the drain without help.

you can't garbage dispose anything that has a wrapper on it. I think it's most prudent to get things that don't rot and smell, ie ketchup packets and mayo packets, and soup in cans or envelopes (dehydrated), so that it won't go foul, that is if it's just a normal office kitchen type thing. Other than that, dump the stuff right before the people take the garbage out. Are the smelly items part of the job? Is it a restaurant with containers that aren't disposable? If so, you could purchase a disposal and that'd do the trick, but your water costs would go up.

If the old food is dumped into the trash can toward the end of a work day, the trash would be taken out that same evening. If the trash is not emptied daily, it probably would become smelly and a garbage disposal could be considered.

Usually in a workplace, space is very limited under the sink and might not allow room for a disposal to be installed. Also, the plumbing bill plus cost of unit should be factored in.

These things should be considered before a decision is made to install one.

I can say that having a garbage disposal in every single house that I had ever lived in since I was a child gave me the mindset that EVERYONE has one.. and because this is such a WONDERFUL invention I am surprised whenever I meet someone who does not have one. Its even more shocking when I meet people who are not familiar with it. The come over to my house thinking that they are about to flip a light switch and then all of a sudden this whirring noise comes out of the sink. They jump back in shock and horror wondering to themselves "WTF WAS THAT????"

Oh.. anyway.. YES. Get a disposal. I think its disgusting to put wet food in the trash can or to flush it down the toilet.

no not really just change the garbage bag right away and its gone. not only that but it is an excuse to get some fresh air and relax outside for a little while.

No matter where you put it, it will end up somewhere, whether in a landfill or the ocean. Perhaps you can set up a compost barrel for gardens.

No. And how does that have to do with religion?

Since this is the R&S section, I'd say you should pray about it.
