Start with the National public registry site at the following:
http://www.familywatchdog.us/
Family watchdog should always be the first point of this type of search because they have a team of volunteers who keep the listings up-to-date with changes and new registries.
Next, hit the Megan's Law site in CA for more national and a few local updates and specialized links:
http://meganslaw.ca.gov/
Finally, to find the local registry in your state, use the FBI's national list at:
http://www.nsopr.gov/
*You can also use your State Police dept website...This is the local org that monitors compliance of those *people* who are required to register.
Do a Yahoo for "State Police" for a list of states that have established an online presence for their troopers...or add the name of your state (and/or the abbreviation) to the search terms to localize the results page...The local Sex Offenders registry will be linked from their home page.

if you go to the general web site for your city or state i'm sure they would have a directory where you could either see the names and addresses or forward you to where you would find such a list.
by the way, all sex offenders are not listed. there are three levels of sex offenders and only the most severe are listed...
