If there are no other birds for him to "talk" to ,he will talk to himself. Birds in the wild ...parakeets to live in flocks and nest fairly close together they carry on a lot. So do love birds and cockateils and others. They will put there head under a wing while sleeping or napping and make all sorts of calls and whistles to them selves when they are the only bird in the house or even when in the same cage with others. He would not be chirping if he were to die.

Give him a great diet of pellet food, 10%seed and 10% fruits and veggies, Chopped hard cooked egg once a week. He may be chirping for more attention. All seed diets lead to malnutrition and early demise. Avoid chocolate and avocado. Have a tweet day and know things will be ok.

chirping is usually a happy thing.
When it's bad you can sence it.
When ever my bird is mad he makes the really weird sound ans bobs his neck a little. I know to get him off me
Also, is the chirping a sort of croak one after the other.
My bird soes that.

Your bird yapping is a good thing. Our budgie never shuts up, even when the blanket goes over the cage at night. We have three of them and they never stop talking, bickering and carrying on.

no, he's not.
he's just happy.
why should he chirp when he's about to die? he's not going to have the strength to chirp anyway.

my P lay on the floor when he's dying, unable to move or eat or chirp. it was really sad.

did he just come into puberty? When my parakeets were young they didn't sing much, but then one day burst into song and I have had enough of them to know that they are just singing-nothing else.
