It's because of the media and the Hollywood mentality culture we live in. Go to any magazine rack and they will tell you the standards you must live up to even if you don't subscribe to those beliefs or morals. We are being told how to live, think, and achieve sucess in this world that never really satifies. Pop culture and fashion always go out of style, so it is important to be yourself and accept yourself for who you are. People get sucked in to these worldly standards and become depressed because they can't keep up with the Jones in wealth and looks, etc.. That's one reason why a lot of people have low self-esteem.

Always be yourself and limit your media input of harmful things.

Because people are taught to compare themselves to others and not to love themselves when they are young. And then they don't change and they don't understand why they don't like themselves, and then they get stuck in a little spiral. Hopefully people grow into themselves in high school. If they don't, then they gotta consciously make a choice in their thinking. I wish I could explain it to people because it's so frustrating to know myself but be around all these kids that have no idea who they are and it wears on them sometimes (I'm a junior in hs). You have no idea how much joy I get, just from observing incoming freshmen that I'll have a class, like P.E., with and seeing them change by sophomore year. It's amazing. But then sometimes they don't, and I can't explain why that happens but they stay stuck in an attitude that they can't do anything, and nothing is their fault, or everything's their fault. I wish I could go into more detail, but pulling your own answer from what I've said may give you the chance to know yourself a little better. And everyone could use that.

Chemical embalances. Their brain works a bit different. But I can say atleast everyone's felt a bit outa place at some point in their life. For me TEENAGE years in high school. But I've come to realize life a bit. Everyone is different, bad experiences lead to lower self-esteem, they feel negative all the time. Really cant help them, they have to help themselves. Its kinda sad though.

it's having a low self esteem...probably all of us experience that sometime in our life. Some people never get better...others learn how to build it with time.

We all have insecurities, even people who are considered successful. One of our goals in life should be to become happy in own skin, to love ourselves, to not judge ourselves based on other people's accomplishments and attributes.
