hi! I need some help with decorating my bedroom. My comforter is a bright pink color, (the brand is seventeen) and my furniture is cherry wood, with a more "princess" kind of theme, since its a sleigh bed, with kind of fancy clear knobs. I just got the set not too long ago, when we moved into our new house. The walls are STILL white, and so boring. I feel as if my new room i was looking forward to, isnt anything special. I am a teenager, and i want a more teenage kind of room, rather than a little girls. How can i do this with the bed set i have? I really need some opinions on colors for my walls. I was thinking maybe light purple, even though its not in my comforter, and just adding purple throw pillows to accent the room. I was also thinking of getting a white duvet cover, and painting my walls a light blue color, but i cant seem to find any fair priced duvet covers. Any idea where to find these? What do you think of the purple idea?any other colors u think would go with my set?

No purple.
No blue.
No brown (you'll hate it a couple of years from now).
I am not a friend of pink, and never have been - but under the circumstances you can make the best of it by playing it down with a totally different theme.
Definitely use a very pale sage green on the walls, lime and white checked duvet cover and curtains. White blinds (or wooden shutter blinds). Throw pillows in lime, pink and white.
Use very sophisticated halogen lighting effect, and some minimalist light fixtures, and discreet forest green, magenta and coffee colour objects for highlights (possibly in paintings, plants, flowers etc).
P.S. Sorry I can't help you with the sourcing as I am probably at least a continent away from. But at a pinch, do you know how easy it is to make your own duvet cover?

No to the purple - too little girly. Personally, I would go with a light sand color on the walls. The darker the color, the smaller your room looks. You can stick with the bright pink comforter. If the light sand color paint is used, the bright pink comforter will give the walls a blush kind of color. Get a pink lamp shade in the same color as your comforter for your dresser, and mix taupe and pink pillows as accents.

No purple. No blue. If you want to keep the pink comforter to keep a femine feel but want a more sophisticated look, paint the walls a pale olive color ( a lighter - but no too light green - with some brown tone to it) and accent with pillows, vases, or other accessories that use a spectrum of greens including darker greens but NO lime green. The pillows and accents can also incorporate reds and burgundys to smooth out the transition between the colors.

Ok, I hear everyone saying no way to the pink and purple but chikita, the BOHEMIAN thing is really in. Think I dream of Jeanie! Get yourself one of those canopies, some jewel tone pillows (deep purple, Hunter Green, Maroon) Lots of those cool trims with the tassels. Get some BIG floor pillows in the same colors for chilling with your friends. Rag paint the walls in a darker shade of lavender purple. It will give it a more textured I dream of Jeannie smoky look.
You can pull this off. It is really in for teens right now!!!

Very good description of your room. Here's my opinion for what it's worth...
I would not paint the room light purple...it is most decidedly a "little girl" color. If you want sophistication, you've got a couple of options. You could mix the pink comforter you've got with a chocolate brown color (very hot right now). If you go that route, you could paint your walls a very light cocoa color, go for drapery that is pink with banding of dark chocolate, and pick up some cheap dark brown throw pillows for your bed.
Or you could go more mod-ish and mix the bright pink with black and white. If you go this route, you'd want to paint your walls pink (I'm thinking you take your comforter to the paint store and have them color match it for you in paint). Then hit the fabric stores and search for funky black and white fabrics. Maybe it's a solid black fabric with great big white stilleto heeled shoes on it, Or something abstract...whatever feels right to you. You can make pillows out of the fabric for your bed, or even do "textile art" by buying a cheap black frame and framing an interesting portion of the fabric. Do not use black draperies. If you want draperies, use white (have them lined) and sew an accent band of your funky black and white theme fabric on the inside edge.
Other than that, kick around on the internet looking for styles that suit you. Check out IKEA, Chivasso, Pottery Barn, etc.

o.k. everyone is right, no to the purple b/c pink and purple are not going to get you anywhere. try painting your walls light brown and starting at the bottom of the wall, about 4-5 feet up sponge a darker shade of brown, it will look quite mature.think about painting your closet door a pink color to even out the bed spread. .if you have a fan sponge that too! buy some stuff to add accent to your room. hope i helped !! bye

"No" to the purple....it will look cheap and unsophisticated. Nothing wrong with pink...go with that. Pink goes well with white and green or white and black. There are great fabrics with these combinations. Go to the fabric store and find a fabric you like and make a couple throw pillows and maybe a window valance. I think a very, pale pink on the walls might be nice.

Go with tan. I have 4 daughters. By the time they hang up their favorite pictures , trophy plaques, stuffed animals in mesh hangers, a lot of mirrors, the little shelves that hold their childhood tea sets, you will have thrown a lot of color into this room that you will never see the wall anymore. They also like their embroidered and crocheted doilies stapled on, too. One has a tapestry rug hanging on the wall.

I agree with evryone else here but you can also buy cheap bath towel and make covers for throw pillows and use them as table/dresser toppers also! And you can use bed sheets for curtains also!!Just measure the windows and then but the size sheet that will fit and then open the wide hem of the sheet and slip a curtain rod into it and Voila! you have a curtain! You could also tie-dye the sheets!! That's sort of fun to do!!

I agree with the brown and pink. I have pink and black in my bathroom and guess what, it's very hard to find because everything is Brown and Pink....so go for it. Very sophticated. Find accents; pictures, throw pillows, knick knacks...it will look great.
