Our pom. has been peeing on the floor in one room of our house. She is fine if we are home, but when we leave or go to sleep at night, she goes on the floor. Is there anything we can do to stop this from continuing. We have tried everything we can think of but if u have any suggestions we are open to anything!!!

Sounds like she may have separation anxiety issues. You could try putting her in a cage when you are gone. Dogs are den animals and the cage can become a very comfortable and safe place for her to be. Just make sure that you get one big enough for her to move around in, but not too big that she can use it as a bathroom.

You know, you might also want to try to litterbox train her. Poms are very tiny, so the mess will be minimal.

I had a Min Pin that used to get into the trash...only while I was not at home. I felt horrible at first, but I put her in a cage and eventually I would find her just laying in it even when I was home.

You can try crate training - but at 5 years old it may be traumatic. Can you restrict her to a room or area where you can use pee pads? I have to puppy mill survivors that are not housetrained - rescued at 10 and 11 years old after living their entire lives in a cage. I simply use washable pee pads and restrict them to a room when I am not at home.

HOWEVER, if this is new behavior I would take her to the vet for a check up. Peeing in the house can be a sign of a urinary tract infection, or crystals in her urine.

It sounds like the dog misses you. I would bring the dog to the area she wets in and show it to her and tell her no bad, then crate her when you leave or go to bed. If she wets in that spot show her and crate her. She will figure it out.

Get a newspaper and roll it up and show him where he peed then hit him slighty so he knows not to pee on the floor
