I have two tats on my back already; one onmy shoulder, and one right above my right butt cheek - I heard it hurts worst on the bone but my second one hurt just as bad and it doesn't touch bone.

3 of my tattoos are along my spine..2 directly on top and just centimeters to the right. While I actually don't mind the pain of a tattoo ( I know there is something sadomasochist about me) I found that the ones on my spine did hurt a little more..especially the outline on the lower spine region..WOW! But in general I have heard that any thing on the bone hurts, there are more nerve endings closer to the surface! Hope that helps!

I have a lower back tattoo that is on either side of my spine on my spine its a decent size and I found that it hurt more beside the spine than directly on top of my spine. I think it hurts more in the 'fatty' parts more than on bone, i have them on my foot and shoulders too and those didnt hurt at all they tickeld more than anything. It was just beside the spine that made me cringe

i think it all depends. for me the parts on my back that hurt the most was the spine. it was awful. but anything over bone hurts. getting tattooed on my lower side parts hurt too, something about the jiggling fat really hurts.

i had a tattoo done on my lower back and it hurt worse than labor pains,especially over the spine. would not do it again.

when i got my sparrows on the side of my cross, my artist went back over my cross and i couldent believe how bad it hurt on my spine, i was like dang did it hurt this bad 2 years ago? the sparrows werent fun either
