Money? Guarantee that you won't go oversees? Be issued pink, bejeweled fatigues? What would it take?

I joined the first time for a change. I had seen what the military had done for my ex-boyfriend and I thought that it could help me to. Also the educational benefits. Also at that time I would earn more money in the Army. I got injured in BCT and got out after 5 months. It is now 3 years later and I want to go back soooo bad (working on the weight thing in order to do that). My reasons this time are completely different. This time I will actually take a pay cut of almost 15,000/year. This time I want to join because I want to serve my country. I want to wear the uniform. I want to feel that pride again. Everybody joins for different reasons, but the best soldiers are the ones who WANT to be their to serve thier country and not the ones who are just there for the money.

News that Battalions of the Chinese Army are in landing ships and are about to invade Las Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.

Other Chinese troops have just captured the Panama Canal and shut it down after five hundred troop ships passed through heading for Houston, New Orleans, Tampa and Miami.

This invasion force could easily overcome our Army because they are scattered all over the planet in Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Colombia and Japan.

So when I heard this news, I realized that this was a real war,
not a phony one set up by a corrupt president and I knew it was time to join up. And I'm 66 years old.

I am a firm believer that what ever your reason for joining the military, it's the right reason. For me, I needed the money for school, and had always wanted to join. (I'm from a military family) Right now, it hardly seems worth the trouble. Why should I have to risk my life (and for my son a mother) for a President that has no clue as to how to run his country. Right now, all the benefits they offer is just a trap, JUST DON'T DO IT! Unless, you really want to go to war. If that is the case, Thank You for your courage!

Changing the age limit. I can think of no reason why a person of 88 years, in good enough condition to pull a trigger and load a machine gun, should not be allowed to join and serve. I did it in WWII and Korea, I can do it again.

I may not be able to run, but I don't intend to run. They can park me in one place, give me a machine gun and enough ammunition and get out of my way. I promise to coat the entire field in front of me with enemy bodies.

What else should they expect me to do?

Money to pay all my bills and to buy a new car, house, and throw in the bank, and college education for my daughter and stuff for her, guarantee that I wouldn't go to war, or overseas.

The elimination of the possibility of an unjust death. So basically i'd never join the army.

Is not the purpose of joining the Army to fight for your country?

if i were younger i would join up. i believe in our troops, am proud of our country, proud of our men and women in the service and i would be damn proud to stand with them.

whether the troops in the field are 'ours' or 'theirs', they are all there fighting for their country, their homes, their loved ones and to preserve their own way of life.

i only wish our world leaders could resolve their issues and work together so that all the troops could get home to their loved ones.

god bless us all and peace
