The shooting pain that you are having is probably related to your sciatic nerve. If the nerve is damaged or pinched you will get the sensation of an electric shock occasionally in your legs. This requires the attention of a neurologist who can treat the problem with drugs, physical therapy or surgery.
For your foot or feet, apply ice and keep elevated as much as possible.

Why is your foot swollen? Did you injure it...did you twist your ankle...do you have an infection? You didn't give us much to work with here. The basic formula for lessening the edema (swelling of a part) is to elevate it....and apply ice. From the sounds of it though, with this shooting pain, do you have any discoloration under the calf of your leg? ...any redness?...do you have some kind of infection going on? Ar there red streaks going up your leg anywhere? These questions are being asked to stimulate you to seek medical care, if you answer yes to any of them. Infection of the blood stream will eventually cause you septicemia (blood poisoning.) If there is redness under the calf, this could be a phlebitis...in fact a deep vein thrombophlebitis... DVT. Please get help for this right away.,..you don't have time to wait.

go to the doctor, this could be a sign of something more serious than just not being able to put a shoe on.
